VAIA was born from the storm of the same name that in 2018 swept away 42 million trees in the Dolomites. From that event a mission was born: to give back to the mountains what the wind took away, one tree at a time.
From there came the idea of recovering the wood of the fallen trees, activating local artisan supply chains and creating an iconic object: the VAIA Cube. A natural smartphone amplifier that since 2019 has allowed us to plant 200,000 new trees in the Dolomites.

Event 01 · Trentino
Planting in Darzo
17th Giro Stage: Cassano d’Adda – Andalo → Planting in Darzo, Valdonea locality
The Chiese Valley is turning green again. Darzo is one of the areas that still bears the signs of the Vaia storm, but today these woods tell a new story of rebirth.
Together with our partners and local families, we turned a symbolic gesture into a concrete action: new trees, new roots and a new future for these mountains.

Planting in Canazei (Penia locality)
19th Stage: Feltre → Alleghe
In the heart of the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site, Val di Fassa represents one of the strongest symbols of rebirth after the Vaia storm. In Canazei, in the locality of Penia, among iconic mountains and forests wounded by the wind, we have brought to life a new concrete reforestation action.
Together with our partners and local schools, we planted new trees to give back energy, value and future to one of the most extraordinary landscapes of the Dolomites.

20th Stage: Gemona del Friuli → Piancavallo
The Valcellina, in Friuli Venezia Giulia, was one of the areas most affected by the Vaia storm. Today Claut becomes the symbol of a new restart: a place where the forest grows again thanks to the shared commitment of the community, the territory and the people.
Together with our partners, schools and local families, we planted new trees to contribute concretely to the regeneration of these mountains, building a stronger and more sustainable future for the territory.

VAIA and BiciScuola: pedaling together towards the future
For the 2026 edition VAIA is Educational Partner of the BiciScuola project, bringing its contribution with dedicated content and a concrete experience, linked to the reforestation activities promoted along the Giro route.
An opportunity to bring the new generations closer to caring for the territory, transforming values and awareness into real actions.
